• Why Some Malaysians Have The Wrong Mentality

    February 22, 2008 | By Gobala Krishnan |

Over the past 2 years meeting a lot of Malaysians who want to make money online, I’ve only met a handful of people with the right mentality about making money online. The rest of them just don’t have it takes to be successful online, and the number one reason is the way they think.

Watch this video to discover what I think separates the people who succeed, from those who never will. Get the YouTube version if you want to put this videos on our blog.

    Gobala,

Great video and you’re right. This is the same email or sms or phone calls I received about how to make money online. People are just wanna make money but not wanting to invest and the worst part is never wanna learn. That is the mentality and we need to change them at least for Malaysian to understand better about making money online. Put it this way “Nothing in this world is free”. Cheers.

I totally agree with your message Gobala - there is no free lunch in this world and if we want to fast track our success to online income, we have to make investments to learn, network, and get products to sell etc. Many Malaysians out there do not see any issue to spend RM300+ on a night out but when it comes to starting an online business, they want things to be free of charge. I hope those who are really serious about an online income will be willing to invest in themselves and at least get a domain and hosting or if they have a product to sell, learn how to market that product online. That is a start at least.

Yep. Seriously when you get something for free, you treat it like how you treat free stuffs. But when you have to sacrifice some guitar strings or a pack of cigarette, that’s when the value comes in.

    You’re right on it, Gobala!

It’s a classic topic that many people out there will resist to accept and understand. :)
Way too many people are believing that money will come down from the sky with NO investment in their knowledge and tools. Some will not hesitate to spend RM50 on anything that is not necessary (pick any that you think of) but will try anything possible NOT to invest in their future (that’s the way I look at internet business).

Until ones have the right mindset, they will never be successful in making money on the internet (sad to say that).

ps. Hopefully we sent a firm message about investing in ourselves from this discussion.

I know that it is important to invest on our knowledge and skills. But more importantly we really need to invest on our worldview. Keep things in perspective and have a clear mind. It certainly costs a lot mentally, spiritually and of course financially. I have had any great success in internet business. But deep inside I know if I keep investing on myself this year I’ll get the reward before 2008 is over. I definitely want to quit my job as teacher this year. I want to become expert like you guys to make real money from internet.

Anyone at the same stage like me is welcomed to be my friend. I am working on ebay and affiliate right now. Soon I ‘ll have my own website selling PLR stuff.

Great, it is really true. In fact, in stead of saying Malaysian like that, I would say it is the weaknesses of human. You see, human tend not to take risk in anything they wanted to do, especially something that cannot be seen under the sun. So, in stead of invest money to get something they want, they would rather ask for free first. Fear of losing is one of the main factor people think that way, that’s why a lot of people today choose to work for people, struggling for money rather than invest to have money work for them.

    My two cents

I agree with you, gobala. I want to add to this, is that you need to tune up your mind & your heart align so that it become one, only then it will fireup all your cells in your body to do something (or action) so that you can achieve whatever you want to achieve in life.

I agree with you bro, recently I sit down with one of my friend who wants to migrate his off line business to the internet, but the first thing he do and decide was he don’t wants to spend a lot of money online. I tell him there is a service where by you as a buyer can receive payment in Malaysian Ringgit, but it may cost you a little, about RM1,500. He decided it too expensive, yet he willing to spend almost RM3,000 to RM4,000 on traveling expenses and bring the stock back by air on preempt that he would be satisfied if he himself choose the material. Funny, if he manage everything online then he save cost on traveling thus those saving can be used to expand his business. I guest he have trust problem.

hmmm.. i’m just starting my 1st site this week with the super affiliate blogger (of course it takes some of my money). But at least i save some of my time searching for the best guide. Of course i will only learn from the trusted source only. By outsourcing for example can save you a lot of time to produce a quality result especially if still have a day job (like me).

But i admit that everyone have to be responsible in what they doing & what decision they’re going to made. I’m very happy there is Malaysian internet entrepreneur group/community like this. At least i can see some of Malaysian do success in this area of marketing. hmm.. still need to learn more.

I want to suggest another thing. Do you think it a mentality of want ’something for nothing”??

I think it is a question of risk. People are afraid of losing money. I know this problem because I’m one of them. For 2 years, I’m a buyer (maybe around RM8,000 in total). I never had a website up. Only mid of 2008 I decide to put action rather than reading and listening to another course. I have to admits, when I took this decision it really test my nerve. I’m scare of losing money. But I already losing money when I bought a product but did nothing later on.

Right now I have no choice but to face the truth and facing what I’m fear of. Without a website and advertising I wont make any sale. So just do it. Buy a system, follow the plan until success.

    Thanx
